| Subject: 2013 Week 3 Pick Em Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:02 am | |
| I honestly do not have the time to do a full pick em summary for every game so I will be choosing a few interesting games a week to write about.
Rams vs Cowboys The Rams start out the season 2-0 and it isn't on accident. They have a very balanced offense that is efficient and they limit their mistakes turning the ball over only 2 times in 2 games. On defense they have limited their first 2 opponents to under 65 yards a game and forced 7 takeaways with 3 sacks to go with it. The Cowboys are off to a 1-1 start thanks to a good special teams unit and offense capable of putting up yardage. The only thing keeping their offense from taking that leap into the elite is their inability to take care of the football, they have turned the ball over a total of 8 times. On defense they allow way too much yardage on the ground giving up an average of 169 yards over their first 2 games, add to that an ineffective pass rush and inability to force their own turnovers and you can see why all the yardage they put up only got them 1 win. The rams opportunistic defense vs a cowboy offense that just cannot take care of the football is a recipe for disaster for Dallas.
Rams 38 Cowboys 20
Colts vs 49ers Although the 49ers are yet to play their week 2 game I think they will come out 2-0 which makes this the only matchup in week 3 between 2 undefeated teams. This game will come down to whoever plays the cleanest game as both teams are solid on defense and on offense. The 49ers defense forces teams to be 1 dimensional by absolutely shutting down the running game only allowing a projected 50 yards rushing per game. Once their opponents become 1 dimensional the fun really starts, where they look to force 4 takeaways per game. On offense they keep opponents on their toes with a variable running game that confuses and bruises opponents while opening the way for the passing game. The Colts defense are no slouches they have limited both opponents so far to 58 yards rushing on the ground per game and have forced 5 turnovers and 3 sacks. They also feature a very balanced attack on offense and limit their mistakes as they only have one turnover in 2 games. To me this comes down to which defense can make that one last stand to win the game and I think the 49ers defense is better built which will make this a close victory for the 49ers.
Colts 21 49ers 25
Jaguars vs Seahawks The Seahawks are yet to play a game so I can't really judge on how good they will be but I know that team has probably the most talent in the league. They will probably lose a close one to the 49ers but they are a really good team, and jacksonville is surprisingly 2-0 at this point which makes this a good matchup. The Jags are nowhere near the team I thought they would be, they have only rushed for 96 yards in 2 games leaving MJD one of the best RBs in the league not getting very many touches in the running game. They did however put up 630 yards in 2 games through the air without throwing any interceptions and only 1 turnover total. On defense they aren't spectacular but their bend but don't break technique combine with 2 turnovers and 4 sacks is enough to win them some games. The seattle defense is strong so far only allowing a projected 450 yards total offense over 2 games and forcing 4 takeaways with 3 sacks added on. Their offense is very balanced and efficient and they take care of the ball. I think the seattle defense is capable of shutting down this hot jags passing game which will force them to try and run the ball or turn the ball over which is exactly whats gonna happen.
